/ip-intelligence/ — IPGeolocation.io
Choose core location data, a separate IP Security lookup or a combined response. The noncommercial free tier excludes security, and paid security modules change the credit cost of each lookup. Local database delivery is licensed separately.

| Starting point | Access method | Check before use | Billing basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| You need a noncommercial location prototype | Use the free IP Geolocation API. | City and postal fields may be empty; security is unavailable on Free. | 1 credit per successful lookup, within 1,000 credits per day.[2][4][5][7] |
| You need proxy or VPN signals | Choose the paid security-only endpoint, or include security in the geolocation lookup. | Request only the modules needed; location plus security has a different cost from security alone. | Security only costs 2 credits per valid IP; combined location and security costs 3.[3][5] |
| You need local database lookups | Select the required database edition and download format. | Confirm server/deployment rights and whether redistribution requires a separate license. | Database licensing and update schedules are separate from API credits.[6][7] |
documented capabilities
HTTP API- Delivery
- HTTPS APIs with JSON or XML output, plus separately licensed database downloads. CSV and MMDB are standard database formats; other formats are available on request.[1][6][7]
- Location data
- Free includes country, region, city, postal code and coordinates when available. Paid plans add locality, estimated accuracy radius and location confidence.[2]
- ASN and network
- Free includes basic ASN fields. Paid plans add extended ASN, company and network information.[4]
- Privacy signals
- Paid IP Security documents separate proxy, residential-proxy, VPN, Tor, relay and cloud-provider flags. Security can be requested alone or added to geolocation; it is not part of the free plan.[3][4]
- Access and free use
- Most endpoints require an API key or authorized request origin. Free includes 1,000 daily credits and is restricted to noncommercial use by the terms.[1][4][7]
- Billing unit
- A base v3 lookup costs 1 credit, security alone 2, and base lookup plus security 3. Bulk uses the same module cost per valid IP. Starter includes 150,000 monthly credits for USD 19 billed monthly.[5][4]
- Credit accounting
- Successful responses include X-Credits-Charged. The credits guide excludes malformed, private and bogon addresses from billable valid IPs.[5]
Billing: API usage is charged in module credits: a base lookup costs 1, security alone 2, and location with security 3 per valid IP. Paid plans include credits and bill overages; database subscriptions are separate.

getting started
documentation reviewed- Choose the location fields and security modules you need; use a paid plan for commercial API use.
- Create an account and obtain an API key, or configure an authorized request origin for the documented browser integration.
- Use the v3 geolocation or security endpoint with the selected modules. Parse the documented JSON or XML format and preserve unavailable values.
- Budget using X-Credits-Charged and valid IPs in each batch; arrange a separate database license for local lookups.
Requirements & limitations
- Included API credits are not the same as included security lookups. Optional security and abuse modules consume extra credits.
- Free is noncommercial. The terms also restrict certain industries and database redistribution; check that the intended use and deployment fit the license.
- Database editions and update schedules differ from API plans.
- Location and security fields describe estimated IP or network properties. They do not establish a person's location or harmful intent.
